Apple's AirTag 2 introduces enhancements, with the most notable being the expansion of Precision Finding to the Apple Watch. This feature, which uses haptic, visual, and audio cues to guide users to lost items, is now accessible directly from the Apple Watch's Control Center. This update builds upon the original AirTag's capabilities, making it more user-friendly.

To set up Precision Finding on your Apple Watch, users must navigate to the Control Center and add the Find Items feature. This is a departure from the typical Find Items app. The setup requires an AirTag 2, an Apple Watch Series 9 or later, or an Apple Watch Ultra 2 or later, and watchOS 10.2.1 or later. The process allows for quick access when locating misplaced items.

The convenience of having Precision Finding in the Control Center is a welcome addition, and the item-specific icons are a nice touch. It would be an improvement if Apple also integrated this feature into the Find Items app, but this may come in a future update. AirTag 2 is available for purchase at $29 for a single unit or $99 for a 4-pack.

Apple's AirTags compete with similar trackers like those from Tile and Samsung's SmartTag line. The addition of Precision Finding on the Apple Watch enhances the overall user experience and positions Apple's offering competitively. This integration makes the AirTag ecosystem even more attractive for Apple users seeking to keep track of their belongings.
