MegaETH's development arm, MegaLabs, has attracted significant investment, raising $20 million in seed funding led by Dragonfly in 2024, followed by a $450 million oversubscribed token sale in October featuring backing from Ethereum co-founders Vitalik Buterin and Joe Lubin. The native MEGA token remains partially locked at launch, with distribution tied to network usage milestones. The project represents one of the largest crypto fundraises of the past year.

The timing is significant as Buterin has recently suggested Ethereum may need to scale its layer-1 network more aggressively, challenging the long-standing reliance on layer-2 solutions.
