A wrong-way driver caused a fatal crash on I-71 in downtown Columbus early Friday. The driver in a Chrysler Town and Country traveled south in northbound lanes, hitting a Ford F-150 head-on before being struck by a semi-truck.

The collision triggered a second crash when a Ram pickup slowed for the initial accident and was rear-ended by another semi. The Ram driver was ejected, ended up under the semi, and the vehicle caught fire. Emergency responders pronounced the Ram driver dead at the hospital.

The wrong-way driver fled the scene but was located six hours later south of the crash. Police found the driver suffering from hypothermia and transported them to a hospital. Authorities have not released names or announced potential charges.
