A head-on collision on the Dallas North Tollway early Monday morning killed one person and left several others seriously injured after a wrong-way driver struck another vehicle. The crash occurred around 2 a.m. near Royal Lane when a Hyundai Tucson traveling northbound in the southbound lanes collided with a Land Rover Velar.

Texas Department of Public Safety troopers reported the Hyundai driver was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The driver and passengers in the Land Rover were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved as the investigation continues.

Wrong-way crashes on Texas highways have become an increasing concern for transportation officials, often involving impaired driving. The tollway was closed for several hours during the morning investigation, causing significant traffic delays during the morning commute.
