Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has imposed sanctions on foreign manufacturers supplying critical components for Russian missiles and drones used in the ongoing war. The sanctions target companies from China, the former Soviet Union, the United Arab Emirates, and Panama that have been circumventing international restrictions to provide parts essential for Russia's weapons production.

Zelenskiy stated that these foreign components make it impossible for Russia to produce its weaponry without international support. The Ukrainian president signed decrees implementing these sanctions against both component suppliers and the manufacturers of missiles and drones themselves. This action comes despite ongoing negotiations to end the four-year conflict.

Russia has dramatically escalated its attacks in recent months, launching over 2,000 attack drones, 1,200 guided aerial bombs, and 116 missiles at Ukrainian cities and villages in just the past week. The strikes have focused heavily on energy infrastructure, causing widespread blackouts. In Kyiv, power outages have lasted up to 20 hours, leaving entire regions without electricity and heating.

Beyond the military suppliers, Zelenskiy also imposed sanctions against the Russian financial sector and organizations supporting Russian cryptocurrency markets and mining operations. The sanctions represent Ukraine's continued effort to disrupt Russia's war capabilities by targeting the international supply chains that enable its weapons production.
