A new Yahoo/YouGov poll reveals that 40% of Americans now consider Donald Trump the worst president in U.S. history, with an additional 12% rating him worse than average. This means a majority of Americans - about 53% - view Trump as one of the least successful presidents ever to hold office.

Only 33% of Americans rate Trump positively, with 12% calling him the best president and 21% saying he's better than average. The survey of 1,704 U.S. adults was conducted just before Presidents' Day, providing a stark contrast to historical rankings where Abraham Lincoln scored 93.87 and Trump previously finished last at 10.92. Trump's current job approval rating stands at just 38%, with 58% disapproving - his lowest point ever and a full 20 points underwater.

Independents have particularly soured on Trump, with only 23% saying he's changing America for the better compared to 57% who believe he's making it worse. A majority now think Trump's second term has turned out worse than expected (51% vs 25%). When compared to his immediate predecessors, 49% of Americans believe Trump is doing a worse job than Joe Biden, while 55% think he's performing worse than Barack Obama. The intensity of negative sentiment is also growing, with 49% strongly disapproving of Trump's performance compared to just 22% who strongly approve.
