The University of Pennsylvania secured the 10th spot globally, while Princeton University ranked 11th, demonstrating the Northeast's academic excellence.

Pennsylvania schools dominated the regional rankings, with Carnegie Mellon University at 38th and Pennsylvania State University at 81st. Philadelphia emerged as an academic hub with Drexel University (172nd), the University of Pittsburgh (181st), and Temple University (322nd) all featured in the Top 500. Princeton was New Jersey's sole representative in the Top 100, while Rutgers University placed at 275th. The University of Delaware was Delaware's only school on the list, ranking 145th.

Time's methodology emphasized three key pillars: academic capacity and performance, innovation and economic impact, and global engagement. The ranking particularly valued student achievements in patenting inventions and attaining leadership roles in business. This recognition underscores the region's educational strength and its role in producing graduates who drive innovation and economic growth in an evolving global landscape.
