Ted Cruz stated Sunday there's "no indication" Iran was "anywhere close" to obtaining nuclear weapons following U.S.-Israel military strikes targeting Iranian nuclear facilities. Speaking on *Face the Nation*, Cruz emphasized the attacks' impact, noting the U.S. dropped "the equivalent of about a third of a nuclear weapon" on sites like Fordow, a mountain-embedded facility. He acknowledged uncertainty about Iran's current capabilities but stressed the strikes weakened their program.

Cruz defended President Trump's decision to authorize the strikes, calling it "the single most important decision of his presidency." He highlighted Iran's history as a state sponsor of terrorism, funding groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, and accused Iranian leaders of arrogance during failed diplomacy. "They claimed a right to enrich uranium in underground bunkers with no supervision," Cruz said, referencing Iran's refusal to halt enrichment.

The senator reiterated that Iran had an active nuclear program a year prior, which the strikes disrupted. Regarding residual nuclear material, he avoided specifics but confirmed Iran's intent to rebuild. Cruz framed the attacks as a strategic victory, arguing the regime's perceived invulnerability was shattered.

Cruz warned that diplomacy with Iran had been "an abject failure," citing their refusal to discuss zero enrichment. He urged Trump to maintain pressure, asserting dictatorships collapse when deemed vulnerable. The remarks underscore ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear ambitions and regional influence.
