Singapore aerospace firm ST Engineering unveiled the AirFish at the Singapore Airshow, a 10-seater ground effect craft that glides 1-3 meters above water at speeds up to 116 mph. The company, traditionally focused on MRO maintenance, is diversifying into original equipment manufacturing with this innovative maritime transport solution.

The AirFish technology harnesses ground effect principles to reduce energy consumption while delivering point-to-point speed. ST Engineering has secured partnerships with BatamFast for Singapore-Batam routes starting Q3 2026 and Wings Over Water Ferries for Indian operations, cutting typical ferry travel time in half for the Singapore-Batam route.

With $8.4 billion in 2024 revenue, ST Engineering ranks #33 on Fortune's Southeast Asia 500 list. The company sees significant potential in Southeast Asia's archipelagic nations and is developing larger 24- and 36-seater versions alongside luxury 4-seater models to expand its market reach in the maritime travel industry.
