A lithium-ion battery in a decorative solar light purchased on Amazon caused a fire that destroyed a Tennessee home in just 20 minutes. Brad and Melissa Oskin's White House residence burned to the ground on November 16, 2025, after flames from their back deck jumped to the roof.

Fire investigators found no electricity, gas, or other ignition sources on the exterior. The forensic analysis pointed to a WdtPro solar light model TDL012, marketed as "Outdoor Solar Light, IP65 Waterproof," as the culprit. Brad Oskin discovered the lights contained lithium-ion batteries only after dissecting a remaining unit from the 10-pack purchase.

The lights lacked UL, ETL, or CSA certification, indicating they'd never been tested by recognized safety laboratories. Most WdtPro products appear to be manufactured in China. The product listing is now marked "currently unavailable" on Amazon. Fire Investigator Josh Wright called it unprecedented: "I've never seen one that's caused by solar light that has a lithium-ion battery in 'em."
