Southern California faces a multi-day wind event beginning Wednesday afternoon, with damaging gusts up to 70 mph expected through the weekend. The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for the Antelope, Santa Clarita, and San Fernando valleys starting at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The strongest winds will peak on Saturday, creating hazardous travel conditions across major freeways.

A second, more powerful Santa Ana event is forecast for Friday morning, with a 40% chance of 60–70 mph gusts in the Western San Gabriel and Santa Susana mountains. The winds will bring cold air that could drop snow levels to 4,000 feet, creating a 10%–20% chance of light snow over the Grapevine on Thursday morning. Temperatures will remain in the 60s and low 70s for most areas.

Forecasters warn of potential downed trees, power outages, and dangerous crosswinds for high-profile vehicles. Officials specifically caution that "the orientation of these winds will likely create travel hazards across major freeways, as well as airport delays at LAX and possibly Burbank Airport." Commuters should avoid wind-prone corridors like I-5 and Highway 33 during peak gust periods, and travelers should check with airlines for potential delays.
