U.S. intelligence indicates Russia has provided Iran with targeting data that could help Tehran strike American warships and aircraft in the region, according to officials familiar with the matter. The information sharing marks Moscow's first known involvement in the conflict between the U.S., Israel and Iran that erupted last week.

The White House downplayed the intelligence sharing's impact, with press secretary Karoline Leavitt stating it's "clearly not making any difference" to military operations. Russia and Iran have grown closer as Moscow seeks drones and missiles for its war in Ukraine, with Iran supplying attack drones and assisting in building a drone manufacturing facility for Russian forces.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov denied any military or intelligence assistance has been provided, though he acknowledged ongoing dialogue with Tehran. The intelligence sharing comes as Ukraine offers its expertise in countering Iranian Shahed drones to U.S. allies in the Middle East, highlighting the interconnected nature of regional conflicts.
