A transgender shooter killed his ex-wife and adult son at a Rhode Island ice hockey rink, authorities confirmed, in what his daughter called a targeted vendetta against the family. Robert Dorgan, 56, fatally shot Rhonda Dorgan and Aidan Dorgan at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket before dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Three others were injured including Linda and Gerald Dorgan, Rhonda's parents, who remain hospitalized in critical condition. Thomas Geruso, a family friend, was also wounded. Dorgan's daughter Amanda Wallace-Hubbard said the attack was "very specific" and not random, crediting an unidentified good Samaritan with saving her and her young sons by tackling the shooter.

Court records reveal Dorgan had a documented history of family conflicts tied to his gender transition. In 2020, he reported disputes with his father-in-law over his transition and alleged threats. His then-wife initially cited his gender reassignment surgery in divorce filings before amending to irreconcilable differences. Police have not identified a motive but described the shooting as a family dispute.
