A rare 1991 Kelly Python sports car, one of approximately seven surviving examples from an extremely limited production run, has resurfaced for sale in Massachusetts. Built using Fox Body Mustang mechanical components and sold through official Ford dealerships, the Python represents a unique chapter in American automotive history. The car features a fiberglass body mounted on a shortened Mustang platform.

Originally conceived as a 1960s Ford concept car to succeed the Shelby Cobra, the design was revived decades later by Alvin Kelly with approval from Ford design leadership. Only about 12 Kelly Python cars were built between 1990 and 1991, making surviving examples exceptionally rare. The vehicle combines minimalist styling with practical Ford parts sourcing, including a 5.0-liter V8 producing 225 horsepower.

The specific example currently listed shows just over 41,000 miles and is priced at $22,000. Despite its historical significance and Ford connections, the Python has maintained relatively modest values compared to other rare sports cars. The car's limited production was ultimately constrained by funding challenges common to niche automotive ventures, leaving the Kelly Python as a fascinating footnote in Ford's design legacy.
