Ford Motor has told car dealers it intends to produce a four-door, gas-powered version of the Mustang for the first time, adding a variant to the “pony car” that has sold in the millions since 1964, according to people familiar with the matter.\n\nThe four-door Mustang was shown at a dealer event this week, the people said. It could go on sale before the close of this decade and resembles the current two-door Mustang, one of the people said. Two of the people said the car would have hybrid power; one of the people said it would be a hybrid V-8.\n\n“We do not comment or speculate about future products,” a Ford spokesman said.

Ford had previously shown a version of the four-door vehicle at an internal event in June, according to another person familiar with the matter.
