Portland-area Beaverton ranked second on Livability's list of best places to live in the western United States, praised for its natural areas and proximity to Portland. The rankings, released in late January, examined over 2,000 cities nationwide to identify 25 top western locations.

Livability, a company that creates marketing programs for cities, highlighted Beaverton's commitment to sustainability and its 90 parks spanning 1,500 acres of natural area. The city benefits from being home to major employers like Nike and Tektronix, while offering lower living costs than nearby Portland. With 300+ high-tech companies, Beaverton has become part of the Silicon Forest tech corridor.

Other Pacific Northwest cities making the list include Vancouver, Washington (9), Tacoma, Washington (12), and Gresham, Oregon (15). The rankings considered factors like schools, healthcare, and community engagement. Broomfield, Colorado took the top spot. The company noted Beaverton's historic downtown with 60 restaurants and the new Patricia Reser Center for the Arts, reflecting the city's ethnic diversity through its global culinary influences.
