An atmospheric river pelting Oregon triggered multiple weather emergencies across the state Monday. In Portland, a rockfall on Interstate 5 caused significant delays after debris struck at least two vehicles. Oregon Department of Transportation officials noted that while netting typically controls such incidents, the volume exceeded normal expectations.

Further south, Marion County experienced a landslide on North Fork Road, while Eugene faced major flooding along Amazon Creek. Transportation officials reported this type of winter weather is routine for the region, though conditions were less severe than December's storms. ODOT crews worked to manage road conditions and assist stranded motorists, particularly in the Government Camp area.

As cleanup continues, Oregon lawmakers are advancing legislation to address infrastructure funding. The Oregon Senate passed a bill to place a gas tax increase on the May primary ballot, which could help fill ODOT's $240 million budget gap. The measure now moves to the House for consideration, with officials emphasizing the need for funding to maintain road crews and repair weather-damaged infrastructure.
