Three of 10 miners kidnapped from Vizsla Silver's Panuco mine in Sinaloa have been found dead, Mexican authorities confirmed Monday. The victims, identified as Ignacio Aurelio Salazar, Jose Angel Hernandez, and Jose Manuel Castaneda, were taken from the Canadian company's operation last month in an area controlled by the Chapitos faction of the Sinaloa cartel.

Mexican mining chamber Camimex called for justice while emphasizing the priority of locating the seven remaining miners alive. President Claudia Sheinbaum stated the government is investigating all possible causes and hopes to prevent future incidents. Security forces deployed over 1,000 troops, including elite marines, to the region following the abductions.

Four suspects have been arrested, and at least one body was discovered in a clandestine grave near Mazatlan. The kidnapping has raised concerns about security in Mexico's mining regions, with relatives reporting workers had warned about dangerous conditions from local crime groups. Vizsla Silver's shares fell nearly 6% in trading following the news, and the Panuco mine remains closed as authorities continue their search.

Quick Fact: Vizsla Silver's Panuco mine has been closed since the January kidnapping.
