Mexico's Attorney General's Office is investigating whether Vizsla Silver Corp. bears responsibility for the kidnapping of 10 of its workers by suspected cartel members. President Claudia Sheinbaum announced the probe Friday, stating the federal body led by Attorney General Ernestina Godoy Ramos will examine labor conditions and potential extortion.

Ten workers were abducted from a gated compound in Concordia, Sinaloa on January 23. Five have been found dead near El Verde village, with additional bodies and remains discovered. The kidnappings have been linked to Los Chapitos, a faction of the Sinaloa cartel, amid an 18-month internal cartel war that has claimed thousands of lives across the state.

A separate engineer from another company was also kidnapped in the same area that morning and remains missing. While security officials initially suggested the workers may have been kidnapped by mistake, Sheinbaum emphasized a full investigation would proceed. The Vancouver-based company maintains it conducted security operations with "the highest degree of caution" and has a "zero-tolerance approach" to unlawful conduct.
