A Springfield-area vascular surgeon faces a lawsuit from his ex-wife and her boyfriend over alleged unauthorized access to their medical records. Grant R. Scott is accused of repeatedly viewing Jessica Scott's CoxHealth records at least 19 times between 2020 and 2025, and her boyfriend Jeffrey Harper's records once in 2024.

Jessica Scott and Harper filed the lawsuit in Greene County Circuit Court, alleging Scott accessed their information without valid medical reason. The suit claims Scott was fired from CoxHealth in June 2025 after the hospital discovered the unauthorized access. CoxHealth confirmed Scott is no longer employed there and declined to comment on the private dispute.

The plaintiffs say they received letters from CoxHealth in July 2025 notifying them of the data breach. They also allege Scott used their private medical information to cause financial harm, including credit inquiries and Craigslist ads using Jessica Scott's personal information. The couple has filed complaints with federal and state agencies including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
