The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will close its 21,000-seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City for nearly a year starting March 30, 2026. The closure, lasting until March 1, 2027, will accommodate critical construction and infrastructure upgrades in preparation for the Salt Lake Temple Celebration.

The Conference Center, which hosts the Church's semi-annual General Conference and numerous performances, will remain accessible only for the April and October 2026 general conferences and major scheduled events like Luz de las Naciones and Tabernacle Choir Christmas concerts. The Center's parking facilities will stay operational during the renovation period.

According to internal communications, the extended closure is essential to execute an expanded scope of work and prepare the facility for an elevated guest experience planned for 2027. This renovation aligns with the ongoing Salt Lake Temple restoration, which began in 2019 under President Russell M. Nelson and includes seismic upgrades and structural reinforcement. The temple is scheduled to reopen for public tours in April 2027, with the Church anticipating hundreds of thousands of visitors.
