Justin Timberlake has filed a lawsuit against the Village of Sag Harbor to block the public release of bodycam footage from his June 2024 DWI arrest. The pop star, 45, argues that releasing the video would cause 'severe and irreparable harm' to his reputation and constitute an 'unwarranted invasion' of privacy. The footage is currently subject to a Freedom of Information Act request by media outlets.

The lawsuit claims the bodycam video captured Timberlake in 'an acutely vulnerable state' during his roadside encounter with police and shows 'intimate details' of his appearance and behavior during field sobriety tests. His attorney, Michael Del Piano, contends the video serves 'no legitimate public interest' in understanding government operations. Timberlake was arrested after allegedly running a stop sign and swerving between lanes while driving his 2025 BMW following a night out with friends.

The 'SexyBack' singer initially joked to officers that his arrest would 'ruin the tour,' but ultimately pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol. He was sentenced to 25 hours of community service and a $500 fine, and his New York driver's license was suspended for 90 days. Timberlake used his sentencing press conference to warn others about the dangers of drinking and driving.
