The Israeli Defense Forces destroyed a secret Iranian nuclear weapons development site near Tehran on Tuesday, IDF Chief Spokesman Brig.-Gen. Effie Defrin announced. The facility, named Min Zadai, was located on the northeast outskirts of the capital and was linked to weapons group developments. Defrin revealed that IDF intelligence tracked nuclear scientists attempting to reach the site clandestinely.

This operation marks the first public disclosure of Iran's efforts to rehabilitate weapons development capabilities since Israel's 12 Day War in June 2025. During that campaign, Israeli forces destroyed dozens of weapon sites, effectively halting progress on the weapons side of Iran's nuclear program. The IDF also reported destroying approximately 300 Iranian missile launchers since the conflict began.

While global attention typically focuses on uranium enrichment as the primary nuclear challenge, Defrin emphasized that weapons components are equally critical for weaponizing enriched uranium. The destruction of Min Zadai represents a significant setback to Iran's nuclear weapons ambitions, though experts note that Tehran may attempt to reconstitute these capabilities in the future.
