Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador's office accused Caldwell-based Right Now Heating, Cooling & Plumbing of running deceptive advertisements. The company's direct mail claimed customers could get furnaces for $1,200, but the lawsuit alleged these misleading claims failed to disclose the complete cost including installation of both furnace and AC unit. Right Now denied the allegations.

The Attorney General's office accused the company of a pattern of unfair competition and deceptive acts violating Idaho consumer protection laws. Customers complained the business failed to provide itemized contracts and offered only an "estimate" that confused them about their actual obligations. The company's business practices regarding transparency came under regulatory scrutiny.

Right Now agreed to an assurance of voluntary compliance requiring changes to its advertising to clearly disclose total costs for HVAC products. The settlement, approved by Canyon County District Judge Randall Grove on Dec. 22, includes $6,500 in fees paid to the Attorney General's office. The company maintains it did not admit liability but sought to resolve the concerns.
