Bloomington police arrested 30 men, including a federal employee who performs background checks for Department of Homeland Security and ICE officers, during a prostitution sting operation. The sting, dubbed "Operation Looking for Love in All the Wrong Place," ran from Feb. 4 through several days.

Among those arrested was a worker responsible for conducting security clearances for various federal agencies, including the FBI and Department of Defense. Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges revealed that the individual's role involved vetting ICE and HSI personnel, raising concerns about potential security vulnerabilities within federal hiring processes.

Police charged all but two of the arrested men with gross misdemeanors, while the remaining two face felonies due to prior offenses. The arrest of a federal background checker during a prostitution sting has sparked questions about the vetting procedures for sensitive government positions and the potential risks to national security when trusted employees engage in illegal activities.
