Heartland Nursery and Garden Center, a fixture in Kansas City for over five decades, will close its doors permanently after the upcoming spring season. Founded in 1972 as Blue Ridge Gardens and rebranded by owners Sherry and Pete Mistretta in 2002, the nursery announced its final closing date as June 30. The owners stated the decision was 'not made lightly,' acknowledging 54 years of service alongside the community. 'This closing comes with gratitude and sadness, but also excitement for what lies ahead,' they expressed.

Heartland will operate at full capacity through its final spring, offering the same high-quality selection of perennials, annuals, vegetables, herbs, and tropical plants that defined its experience. The property, spanning nearly 12 acres at 10300 View High Drive, will cease operations after this season.
