Four South Mississippi kitchens failed health inspections in just three days, with inspectors citing repeated violations of handwashing facilities and plumbing issues. Sai Chevron in Biloxi received its sixth C grade since 2022 for inadequate handwashing facilities, while Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Gulfport earned its third C since May for similar violations. Wayne Lee's #2 Deli in Lucedale was cited for lacking a certified manager and improper toilet facilities, marking its fifth C in two and a half years.

Health Department inspectors conduct annual checks across South Mississippi, grading kitchens with A for no violations, B for corrected issues, or C for critical violations. The inspections revealed systemic problems with handwashing facilities, with multiple establishments failing repeatedly for the same infractions. Samurai in Gulfport received its first C grade since 2020 for plumbing violations and failing to post its last inspection grade.

Since February 1, District 9 inspectors have given 245 A grades, 31 B grades, and seven C grades to restaurants and kitchens. The repeated violations at these establishments suggest ongoing challenges with maintaining basic sanitary standards, raising concerns about food safety practices in the region.
