Following the cessation of Ford Escape production at the Louisville Assembly Plant, Ford is implementing a strategy to retain existing customers. The automaker aims to keep approximately 70% of Escape and Lincoln Corsair owners within the Ford brand. This initiative is crucial for maintaining market share, as direct replacements for these models are not immediately available.

To achieve this, Ford plans a targeted marketing and incentive program, offering attractive deals on alternative vehicles like the Bronco Sport and Maverick. Ford is also focusing on Escape lessees whose terms expire this year, with the goal of preventing them from switching to competing brands. The company is offering substantial incentives, ranging from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on the chosen vehicle.

Ford aims to replicate its successful strategy used when the Edge production ended. By providing incentives, Ford hopes to encourage Escape owners to transition to models such as the Bronco Sport and Maverick. The incentives are designed to make these moves financially appealing. With nearly 250,000 Escape owners expected to visit Ford dealerships this year, the success of this strategy is critical.

With Escape supply expected to last through June, and Corsair inventory extending into 2026, the effectiveness of Ford's retention plan will soon be tested. While the Ford brand has a loyalty rate of 53.3%, only 44.1% of Escape owners traded for other Ford models last year. The upcoming incentives will determine whether Ford can maintain customer loyalty during this transition.
