A Volusia County man was arrested after deputies said he smashed a Publix employee's SUV with a hammer in a case of mistaken identity. Justin Allen, 37, was caught by a deputy Friday morning in the SUV's parking lot at the Ormond-by-the-Sea store.

When confronted, Allen claimed he was "taking revenge" on his ex-girlfriend's vehicle, but the SUV actually belonged to a Publix worker. The incident occurred in the store's parking lot, where Allen had broken into the vehicle before beginning his destructive rampage.

Allen faces multiple charges including burglary, possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief over $1,000, and drug possession. He was released the same day after posting a $10,500 bond. The sheriff's office confirmed the charges and bond amount in their official statement about the incident.
