Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman criticized Democratic colleagues for disrupting President Trump's State of the Union address, calling their behavior undignified and counterproductive. Speaking on Fox News, Fetterman condemned the "yelling and screaming" from some legislators and defended Trump's right to be treated respectfully as president.

During Trump's speech, several Democrats heckled the president, with Rep. Al Green being removed from the House chamber for protesting. Fetterman, who has occasionally sided with Republicans on key issues, was notably the only Democrat to shake Trump's hand as he entered the chamber. The president had specifically called out Democrats for remaining seated during his declaration about protecting American citizens.

The Democratic senator also criticized counterprogramming events held during Trump's address, including the "People's State of the Union" and "State of the Swamp" gatherings. Fetterman expressed disappointment that half his colleagues skipped the official address entirely, arguing that such actions undermine the institution and fail to serve constituents effectively.
