Republican Rep. Nancy Mace plans to force a House vote next week on releasing sexual misconduct reports involving members of Congress, she told NBC News. The South Carolina congresswoman's resolution would require the House Ethics Committee to disclose all sexual harassment and misconduct reports involving lawmakers or their staffers.

Mace introduced the measure after reports revealed that GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas sent sexually explicit texts to a former aide who later died by suicide. Gonzales has denied the affair allegations and faces a competitive primary March 3 in Texas. When asked about resignation calls, he stated, "I will not resign."

Mace has been in contact with the parliamentarian about her resolution and plans to file it as "privileged" on March 4. Once filed, House Republican leadership will have two legislative days to schedule a floor vote. The congresswoman expressed doubt about whether enough lawmakers would support the measure, saying, "When are we going to start policing our own? We haven't done that yet because both sides protect each other from embarrassment."
