A Beverly Hills businesswoman was evicted Wednesday from a Los Angeles home after allegedly filing $500 million in fraudulent mechanics liens against multiple properties. Rita Ortiz, registered agent of Ortiz Consulting LLC, was removed by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies from a Glendon Avenue property where she had recorded seven liens.

Ortiz has filed 35 mechanics liens since 2023, claiming unpaid work for services including cleaning, according to Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder records. Four Benedict Canyon homeowners told ABC7 they never contracted with Ortiz yet received multimillion-dollar liens on their properties. The Sheriff's Department confirmed the eviction was completed at 9:25 a.m. after Ortiz argued she received no notice.

Ortiz was seen arguing with deputies outside the property, demanding access to retrieve her belongings. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed an active investigation into at least some of the liens. This eviction marks a significant development in what homeowners describe as a pattern of predatory lien filings targeting wealthy Los Angeles-area properties.
