A tragic shooting at a Bank of America branch in Charlotte has left one employee dead and sparked a murder investigation. Ina Michelle Lang, a 50-year-old Bank of America employee with over 20 years of service, was fatally shot twice in the back outside the bank's northwest Charlotte location on February 6.

Police arrested 22-year-old Sam'on Andrew Smith, who allegedly exited a yellow Dodge Charger wearing a black hoodie and face covering before shooting Lang on the sidewalk. The suspect fled the scene but was later apprehended at his home without incident. Court records show Smith faces first-degree murder charges and is being held without bond in Mecklenburg County.

Bank of America expressed deep sadness over the loss of their longtime employee, extending condolences to Lang's family and friends. The incident has raised concerns about workplace safety and security at financial institutions. Investigators found clothing at Smith's residence matching witness descriptions, and his mother revealed he had expressed mental health issues and possessed firearms.
