A newly released police report confirms paramedics did not administer Narcan to Anne Burrell at the scene of her death. TMZ reported Burrell was already deceased when responders arrived at her home on June 17, 2025. The overdose reversal drug, sold as Narcan, was not used despite being available. Burrell's husband, Stuart Claxton, discovered her body in their bathroom. Emergency responders pronounced her dead shortly after. The report details numerous over-the-counter medications found mixed in a bowl near her body. The NYC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled her death as 'acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine and amphetamine.'

Claxton told officers his wife had 'never attempted suicide in the past,' 'never talked about it,' and showed 'no signs' of such intent. A suicide note and journal entries were found in her bedroom. Burrell's family described her as a 'beloved wife, sister, daughter, stepmother, and friend' whose 'smile lit up every room' and whose 'warmth, spirit, and boundless love remain eternal.' She was best known for hosting 'Worst Cooks in America' and appearances on 'Secrets of a Restaurant Chef' and 'The Next Iron Chef.'

The disclosure that Narcan was not used raises questions about the response to her overdose. The investigation continues, with the suicide note adding a complex layer to the circumstances surrounding her death. Her family's statement emphasizes her positive impact, contrasting with the tragic end found by authorities.
