A Hillsborough County high school teacher was among 89 suspects arrested in a major human trafficking operation that resulted in over 1,200 felony charges, officials announced. The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office conducted coordinated undercover operations between January 1 and February 6, targeting individuals seeking to exploit children.

Deputies said all suspects believed they were communicating with minors and would meet to pay for sex. Stephen Fabic, a 41-year-old math teacher at Hillsborough High School, allegedly offered to pick up a teenager and bring them to his home for sexual activity. Another suspect, 69-year-old John Altieri, was serving home confinement for drug possession when he allegedly arranged transportation for a minor.

Investigators also arrested Petter Torres, 42, after receiving a tip about sexually exploiting a sleeping 2-year-old child who was safely recovered. The operation resulted in 1,217 felonies total. Sheriff Chad Chronister warned that detectives would follow digital trails to arrest those pursuing children. Victims are receiving support services from organizations including Selah Freedom and One More Child.
