Two dog walkers made an extraordinary discovery on Scotland's Lunan Bay Beach when they spotted ancient footprints preserved in clay. Ivor Campbell and Jenny Snedden were walking their dogs when a storm scattered sand from the dunes, revealing the 2,000-year-old impressions.

Recognizing the significance, Campbell contacted Bruce Mann, a regional archaeologist, who mobilized a team from the University of Aberdeen. The archaeologists had just 48 hours to document the find before weather and waves destroyed it completely. Working in 55 mph winds, the team used drones and 3D modeling to capture the site with millimeter accuracy.

Radiocarbon dating confirmed the footprints dated to the late Iron Age, around the time of Roman invasions in Scotland. The site also revealed animal tracks from red deer and roe deer, suggesting the area was once a muddy estuary used for hunting and gathering. Despite the team's rapid response and innovative documentation methods, the site was completely destroyed within two days, leaving only the scientific records as evidence of this rare archaeological discovery.
