Tesla will invest $250 million into its Berlin-Brandenburg factory to increase battery cell production for electric vehicles, capitalizing on recovering European sales. The investment comes as Tesla aims to expand its manufacturing presence in the region.

The Berlin facility, Tesla's first European manufacturing site, opened in March 2022 and has already produced 750,000 vehicles, with plans to reach one million cars on site. Factory lead Andre Thierig announced the hiring expansion and production increase through the social media platform X.

The announcement arrives during challenging times for German automotive industry as local manufacturers face mounting competition from Chinese rivals. Porsche recently announced closing subsidiaries and shedding 500 jobs, highlighting the pressure on traditional automakers.
