Starbucks Lays Off 200+ Corporate Workers in Cost-Cutting Push

Starbucks is laying off more than 200 corporate employees as part of a broader effort to streamline operations under CEO Brian Niccol's turnaround plan.

The cuts include about 120 technology workers who declined to relocate to Nashville, where a new corporate office is being built. An additional 104 jobs will be eliminated in coffeehouse design and development.

These reductions do not involve cafe closures. The Seattle-based coffee chain, the world's largest, is working toward Niccol's goal of eliminating $2 billion in costs by the end of its 2028 fiscal year. At the same time, Starbucks is investing more heavily in its cafe operations.

The company recently reported that its U.S. stores are nearly fully staffed, with most in-store and drive-through orders being fulfilled within four minutes, a target set by Niccol.
