Sony Group announced a 32% increase in first‑quarter net profit, driven largely by stronger performance in its music and image‑sensor divisions. The Japanese electronics and entertainment conglomerate posted a Q1 net profit of 342.16 billion yen, roughly $2.15 billion.

This figure eclipsed analysts’ expectations of 262.6 billion yen, according to a Visible Alpha poll. First‑quarter revenue rose 8.2% to 2.838 trillion yen, and operating profit climbed across Sony’s game, movie and image‑sensor businesses.

Sony attributed the upside to robust sales in its entertainment and image‑sensor businesses, which helped lift margins and profitability.

For the fiscal year ending March 2027, the company now forecasts revenue of 12.5 trillion yen and net profit of 1.210 trillion yen, a 17% rise from the prior guidance of 12.3 trillion yen and 1.160 trillion yen.
