Deutsche Lufthansa reported a steep drop in second-quarter profit, narrowing its full-year 2026 guidance range. The German carrier booked 123 million euros in net profit for Q2, down from 1.01 billion euros the same period a year prior, missing analyst expectations of 327.6 million euros. Adjusted EBIT fell to 383 million euros from 871 million euros a year earlier.

Lufthansa now expects adjusted EBIT between 1.7 billion and 2.2 billion euros for 2026, tightening its prior vague outlook of 'significantly higher' than the previous year's 1.96 billion euros. The group cited volatile kerosene prices as a key headwind. Analysts had anticipated stronger results, highlighting the challenge in stabilizing earnings amid energy cost fluctuations.
