Klarna Shares Fall on Lower Outlook, CFO Search

Klarna shares fell after the payments company lowered its full-year outlook despite swinging to a profit and posting higher revenue in the second quarter. The firm cut its forecast for gross merchandise volume, which measures the total monetary value of all completed purchases over its network, citing continued softness in consumer spending, particularly in Germany, its largest market by volume.

The company now expects gross merchandise volume of $149 billion to $151 billion for the year, down from a prior forecast of at least $155 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet had expected $155.68 billion. The revised guidance overshadowed the quarterly profit swing and revenue growth.

Klarna also announced it is searching for a new finance chief, with Niclas Neglén planning to step down from the role early next year. The CFO search adds another layer of uncertainty for investors already digesting the lowered volume targets.
