Boeing Ramps Up Production for Air Force One, Commercial Jets

Boeing is investing "significant resources" to accelerate production of commercial jets and ensure the new presidential plane, designated for delivery in 2028, remains on schedule. The company has poured more resources into developing the modified 747-8 jets that will serve as Air Force One, with fast-tracking this work costing an additional $280 million. This marks the latest cost overrun on the more than $4 billion project.

Boeing's commercial airplane division also posted an operating loss, though smaller than the previous year. This division absorbed costs associated with ramping up manufacturing operations to reduce its multibillion-dollar backlog of undelivered planes. The company's financial results for the quarter missed Wall Street's earnings expectations, but met revenue forecasts. Shares of Boeing saw a slight increase in premarket trading following the announcement.
