That puts its acceptance rate at 0.04% — an order of magnitude more selective than Harvard or Stanford, which typically admit around 4% of applicants. The Milan-based company has turned hiring into a filter so fine it excludes virtually every applicant, including many with elite credentials.

The volume reflects a deliberate strategy: Bending Spoons recruits globally for roles spanning engineering, product, and design, but its screening process prioritizes raw problem-solving ability over pedigree. Candidates face multi-stage assessments, including live coding exercises and product critiques, designed to surface how they think rather than where they studied. The company's lean headcount — roughly 400 employees total — means each hire must carry disproportionate output.

This model inverts conventional tech hiring. While giants like Google and Meta scale recruiting funnels to fill thousands of seats, Bending Spoons treats scarcity as a feature. The approach keeps burn low and talent density high, but it also limits how fast the company can expand its product portfolio.
