Hunter Biden confirmed Monday that a memecoin named after his laptop will launch on Sept. 9, posting the ticker $LAPTOP and a Fox News clip to his verified X account. The Wall Street Journal reported Biden is part of the founding team for the token, which deploys on Coinbase's Base network with a 1 billion total supply. Tokenomics show the founding team takes 30%, locked for six months then released over two years; 20% goes to airdrops targeting wallets that lost money on the TRUMP memecoin, Substack subscribers, and a mailing list from video journalist Andrew Callaghan; 20% covers liquidity and legal costs; and up to 30% is earmarked for burns triggered by events like Bitcoin setting a record or LAPTOP surpassing TRUMP's market value.

Within an hour of the Journal's report by Vicky Ge Huang, at least 14 copycat LAPTOP tokens appeared across Robinhood Chain, Solana, TON, and BNB Chain, trading $6.9 million combined. The largest, on Robinhood Chain, reached a $535,206 fully diluted valuation with $5.43 million volume. A pre-existing LAPTOK token on Base rose 54% to a $51,908 market cap. TRUMP, launched before President Trump's second inauguration, now trades 97% below its $73.43 high at $2.25 with a $613.4 million market cap. Base holds $5.67 billion in total value locked.
