TheParticipating Rapid Support Forces in Sudan’s conflict carried out mass killings, abductions, and gang rapes in El Fasher, according to a new UN Fact‑Finding Mission report. The document builds on earlier findings that label these acts as genocide markers and documents additional evidence of detention, torture, ransom‑taking and enforced disappearances.

On 6 July the UN Human Rights Council adopted a resolution expressing deep concern over the situation in El Obeid, where over 500,000 residents and 100,000 internally displaced persons face escalating violence and restricted humanitarian access. The Council urged the Fact‑Finding Mission to launch an urgent inquiry into alleged violations of international human‑rights and humanitarian law.

The findings risk triggering international sanctions against the RSF, could deter foreign investment in Sudan’s already fragile economy, and may disrupt aid flows from major donors. Businesses linked to Sudanese infrastructure or arms supplies face heightened scrutiny and potential reputational damage.

The Mission will report its findings to the Human Rights Council and the General Assembly, reinforcing the need for accountability and preventive measures before further atrocities occur.
