Ukraine Targets Russian Ships to Block Crimea

Ukraine has intensified its campaign against Russian supply lines, shifting focus from roads and railways to sea routes. By targeting Russian ships in the Black Sea, Kyiv aims to cut off fuel shipments to Crimea, a strategic enclave used by Russia for military operations.

The move follows a series of successful attacks on terrestrial infrastructure that have already disrupted Russian logistics across eastern Ukraine. Ukrainian forces have used drones and artillery to hit bridges, tunnels, and rail hubs, hindering the movement of troops and supplies.

Cutting off sea routes is intended to choke Russia's ability to sustain its forces in Crimea and compel Moscow to negotiate an end to the conflict. The Ukrainian Navy and special operations units have increased patrols and interdiction efforts in the Black Sea, targeting vessels that transport fuel and ammunition.

While the strategy has not yet resulted in a complete blockade, it has already forced Russian vessels to reroute, increasing transit times and costs. The campaign reflects Kyiv's broader objective of weakening Russian operational capacity and restoring control over Ukrainian territory.
