President Trump summoned top tech executives to the White House on Tuesday, praising them as “very brilliant” minds focused on job creation and AI expansion. Despite questions about regulating AI to protect humans, the meeting resulted in no formal regulation.

Instead, the group signed a voluntary agreement to adopt safety policies including risk reviews, auditing, and third-party evaluations. They also adopted Trump’s preferred term for AI: “super intelligence.” Trump called the agreement “morally binding,” adding, “they’re really going to be policing each other.”

The one-page document, short on details, was signed by Trump and leaders of Anthropic, Google, Meta, Nvidia, OpenAI, and SpaceXAI. It echoes nonbinding commitments from the Biden administration that were largely rolled back by Trump.

Executives present included Dario Amodei of Anthropic, who has called for federal safety regulations, and Jensen Huang of Nvidia, who urged a hands-off approach. Trump called Amodei “fantastic” and Huang a “very handsome guy.”
