Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez was set to arrive in Ceuta, a Spanish territory in Africa, on Tuesday amid an escalating crisis for his pro-immigration government. Thousands of migrants, many of them teenagers, surged across the border into the Spanish enclave over the past few days. The unprecedented influx of migrants into Ceuta, which is located on the northern coast of Africa, has created a humanitarian and political crisis.

In response, Spain has deployed 150 security agents and sent a contingent of the military police to reinforce border control. The government has also begun deporting hundreds of minors back to Morocco, their country of origin.
