Shreveport, La. A man killed eight children, seven of whom were his own, and wounded two adults in a three-location shooting spree on Sunday before dying in a police confrontation. Officials identified the victims as Jayla Elkins (3), Shayla Elkins (5), Kayla Pugh (6), Layla Pugh (7), Markaydon Pugh (10), Sariahh Snow (11), Khedarrion Snow (6), and Braylon Snow (5). The shooter, Shamar Elkins (31), wounded his wife and another adult before fleeing in a carjacked vehicle.

Police fatally shot him or he died by suicide during the chase. Seven victims were related to Elkins, including his children and stepsiblings, per Caddo Parish Coroner records. Relatives described Elkins as stressed and suicidal, citing a recent Easter call where he expressed despair. Authorities have not disclosed a motive, and the investigation continues.
