The Pentagon reported that 140 U.S. service members have been injured since the conflict with Iran began, with seven Americans killed. Iranian strikes have targeted American troops stationed in the region, causing both fatalities and injuries. Sean Parnell, the Pentagon spokesman, stated that while most injuries were minor, eight service members remain severely wounded.

Among the dead is Army Sgt. Benjamin Pennington, 26, from Kentucky, who succumbed to injuries sustained when Iran struck a Saudi military base on March 1. The Pentagon announced his death on Monday, noting he was preparing for transfer to a German military hospital when he passed away. Pennington had been assigned to the 1st Space Brigade at Fort Carson, Colorado, since June 2025.

President Trump witnessed the return of the first six American casualties at Dover Air Force Base, where their remains arrived after an Iranian drone strike killed them at a Kuwaiti port. The casualties highlight the escalating human cost of the conflict as the war enters its second week.
